Death of itunes
I have 10 of thousands of songs with me, and in a long run, i believe everyone will own those many songs. With apple charging more than a $1 for a song, its next to impossible for my entire music collection to come from this source.
Apple has to change its business model (similar to lala or Rhapsody, where you can add songs to your collection for much lesser price) or Apple's itunes will die soon.

Next Day like today will come after 20 years....
Nov 25, 2009 is the last night when our home had 3 people sleeping at night. From Nov 26, the home will have 4. Neha is coming home from NICU today. Next day, when the home will be back to 3 is when Rishi or Neha leave home to go to college or when one of them get married...
Waw, what a great day today.

Facebook Vs Twitter Vs Blog
With twitter, facebook and blog, i am too confused where to write what. So i guess the best answer is as follows:
1. Less than 140 characters, and not expecting many friend's collaborative participation and not expected to have a long term refernce: TWITTER
2. Need immediate notice from friends, long term archival is not priority: FACEBOOK
3. Long term archival is priority; Friend's notice is medium priority: BLOG

I am already taken - my best country song now...
Steve Wariner "I'm Already Taken" (1978). I have been hearing this in Y100 FM in San Antonio. This song is so good and i realised, this is the same guy who sang "Holes in the Floor of Heaven", and accidentally i heard this song for the first time on the same day my grandma died....Too many flooding memory.
The lyrics goes like this
one day shy of eight years old, my grandma passed away
i was a broken hearted little boy, blowing out that birthday cake
how i cried when the sky let go, with a cold and lonesome rain,
mamma smiled, said don't be sad child, grandma's watching you today
(chorus)
cause theres holes in the floor of heaven
and her tears are pouring down,
that's how you know she's watching,
wishing she could be here now,
and sometimes if your lonely,
just remember she can see,
there's holes in the floor of heaven,
and she's watching over you and me,
seasons come, and seasons go, nothing stays the same
i grew up, fell in love, met a girl who took my name
year by year, we made a life, in this sleepy little town
i thought we'd grow old together, Lord, i sure do miss her now
But there's holes in the floor of heaven,
and her tears are pouring down,
that's how i know she's watching,
wishing she could be here now,
and sometimes when i'm lonely,
i remember she can see,
there's holes in the floor of heaven,
and she's, watching over you and me,
well my little girl is twenty three, I walk her down the aisle
it's a shame her mom can't be here now, to see her lovely smile
they throw the rice, i catch her eye, as the rain starts coming down
she takes my hand, says daddy don't be sad,
cause i know mamma's watching now
And there's holes in the floor of heaven,
and her tears are pouring down,
that's how you know she's watching,
wishing she could be here now,
and sometimes when i'm lonely,
i remember she can see,
yes, there's holes in the floor of heaven,
and she's, watching over you and me
watching over you and me
watching over you and me
Now, here is the "I am already taken" song...

Rolex on my 35th birthday
I guess, watch has been my obsession since long time. At one point, i did not feel the need to wear a watch. Then my dad gave me a Citizen watch during my college days that he got from Singapore. Whenever i wore that, it used to attract eyes. Then the interest towards watch died down. When i started going to work, i think i was wearing the watch presented by sai baba (to all students). Then in 1998, i fell in love with Omega, but bought only Swatch (to start with). The love for Omega Seamaster continued to grow in my mind. Then, one afternoon during lunch break i went and purchased. After this, i started collecting HMT watches for their vintage designs. I fell for Favre Leuba for the vintage design, that i picked up from a old watch repair shop. Since 4-5 years, the yearning for Rolex is growing and i always felt that i should acquire Rolex by my 35th birthday. Now this is coming to be real. My 35th birthday is going to be this year (October). Rolex is going to be an addition for this birthday. I am sure, this will be passed on to my first grandson :)

A Promise is a promise - Ratan Tata tells the world with his $2000 car "Nano"
Its so funny that Nano name was being rotated during the launch of the car. When you see it rotating, you read "Na No"..Na in hindi meaning "No" and again "No" in english. When it turns during rotation, you read "on on" meaning, the car is a reality. I dont know if anyone noticed this or made it this way intentionally.
I dont see the marketing charm in Ratan Tata, as i see in Steve Jobs. But i was mersmerised when you started talking about the price and also considering that the car has 50 Miles per gallon (Remember my car gives 25 miles per gallon). The car was one man dream 4 years back that set the price to be $2000 or Indian Rupee 100,000. People speculated that the car may sell for double that promised price considering input cost increase and increased safety and emission standards. But Ratan Tata said "The Price of the car is Rs.100,000 ($2000). A Promise is a Promise and thats what we would like to leave with you". I almost cried. If god is anywhere, he must give this man, another 100 years to live and give him another target. Target to do something so crucial that will provide peace to humanity. When he sets his eyes on something, he does it. Long Live Ratan

It is not fair to block corporate bonuses
It is ofcourse not fair to block corporate bonuses for companies like AIG and Citi and other huge loss making companies.
Let us say that a company has made a loss of $100 Billion for the year and the company is handing out 200 Million in bonuses to high ranking executives. There is nothing wrong in that because, had it not been for those executives, the companies would have made $200 Billion dollar losses. If giving those $200 million in bonuses is not fair, then what justifies government giving tax money in the form of loan to the extent of $100 Billion dollars in terms of revival loans or some other fancy names.
If you decide not to support bad companies and bad executives, the let the companies die.
Now having taken these public money, what if these companies, just have fun and not show results. What is the perks for the top execs to perform now? If you set a trend that bonuses cant be given to these companies, what prevents the highly talented execs to stick onto the bad companies... They will leave the company and join some other performing companies and get salary and bonuses and some not so intelligent characters will become CEOs of these Government funded companies.

Triglycerides is GOD
I have almost stopped my consistent running since almost a year, i should say. To aggravate, i have started eating like crazy, as if there is no tomorrow. The amount of rice, oil, butter, bagel and cream cheese i had was all time high. Imagine this without supplementing any form of exercise....My Triglyceride level skyrocketed....to almost 300.
I saw this result last Monday and since then i have been running almost 2.5 miles everyday....Today is 8th day and there has been no break...I have stopped going to Bagel Shop. I have made my eating moderate, though not completely stopped overeating. But i am getting there...
When i was in Doctor's office this time, i noticed a man who looked like he was in his 50s...When he gave his date of birth during blood test, i was astonished, as his age was 72. I met him later and asked him the secret to his health and he said "My wife takes care of it". This statement is very true. "Listen to your wife. She can save you"
My ipod kit is not working, looks like it has run out of battery, so i need to get a new one...Once i get it, i will have the graphs running on the blog again.

Life Goes On
I got this as an email, one of the usual forwards, but real nice.
Here i am sitting in my office @ night…
Thinking hard about life
How it changed from a maverick collage life to strict professional life…...
How tiny pocket money changed to huge monthly paychecks
but then why it gives lesss happiness….
How a few local denim jeans changed to new branded wardrobe
but then why there are less people to use them
How a single plate of samosa changed to a full Pizza or burger
But then why there is less hunger…..
Here i am sitting in my office @ night…
Thinking hard about life
How it changed…..
How a bike always in reserve changed to bike always on
but then why there are less places to go on……
How a small coffee shop changed to cafe coffee day
but then why its feels like shop is far away…..
How a limited prepaid card changed to postpaid package
but then why there are less calls & more messages……
Here i am sitting in my office @ night…
Thinking hard about life
How it changed…...
How a general class journey changed to Flight journey
But then why there are less vacations for enjoyment….
How a old assembled desktop changed to new branded laptop
but then why there is less time to put it on……….
How a small bunch of friends changed to office mate
But then why we always feel lonely n miss those college frnz.….

I know why the caged bird sings
I know why the caged bird sings, ah me,
When his wing is bruised and his bosom sore,
When he beats his bars and would be free;
It is not a carol of joy or glee,
But a prayer that he sends from his heart's deep core,
But a plea, that upward to Heaven he flings –
I know why the caged bird sings
I am impressed by this poem. I saw this book in one of the Reba Mcentire's music video. Its on a song called "Is there life out there". This song was composed after her entire band crew died in a place accident. In this song, she prepares very hard (after being a mom for 2) for a college paper and types bunch of papers over 3 weeks and her kids pours coffee on those papers. That time she says "She does not need any more accidents in her life". Towards the end of video, her teacher appreciates the paper and gives her A and says jokingly says to avoid stain on her paper the next time. She says "I learnt a lot from the stain than from her paper". Its nice.

Life is simple as a baby
My son gets disturbed in night, probably once a week. He tosses and turns in the midnight, half way through his sleep. Some days he complains his leg is paining, or some days he says that he needs his doggy soft toy and on some days he says "I Need Space" (true American, i guess). All that i need to do is to fill up a bottle of milk and put it in his mouth. He drinks and sleeps and never complains again. Imagine, if all our worries in life could be solved with a bottle of milk.

Americans can be mean to enforce the "right thing"
In my office, i took a pen from stationery rack that mentioned "Finance". While i was trying to take this pen, i saw one of the employees from "Finance" walk past me. I guess he saw me trying to open the box to take a pen. Within 30 seconds, the unit's secretary came by and asked me if i needed help. I told her that i am taking a pen and she curtly said that this belongs to "Finance" unit and locked the door...As i had the pen already in hand, i asked if i can take it and she said YES. It was very unpleasant experience for that 30 cent pen....Shame on me, i was so embarrassed, i decided to write this blog entry.

Spanglish - One of the best movie i have seen
I watched Spanglish last week. Its so amazing, it kept me thinking about it....It very UnAmerican.Watch it to understand this statement. There are other beautiful statements from this movie.
"They should name a gender after you. Looking at you doesn't do it, staring is the only way that makes sense. And trying not to blink so you don't miss anything.
And all of that and you're you. It's just that you are drop dead crazy gorgeous.
So much so, that I'm actually considering looking at you again before we finish up here."
There are some mistakes you cannot risk when you have children.

Music Blogs
I was in a mood for music and i went to my blog archives tagged for music. When i realised that poornima has removed from music blog site, i felt sad for a bit. I googled to get her blog, if she shifted to wordpress or some such thing, but i failed.
In this process, i landed on this goldmine. Its after a long long time, that i had goosebumps for continuous 7 minutes seeing this piece of music...Its played by José Feliciano, a born blind person (i realized he was blind after listening to this piece). This is performed by JOhnny cash and Jose...
I thought kunnakudi mastered violin better than any musician has mastered any instrument....But after seeing Jose and his style, i wonder if there is any other musician as versatile as him. This is the first time, i have seen, that a player is making music by tuning his string...Watch this to understand what i am saying....

You have not tasted Chocolate until you taste this
After coming to US, i was exposed only to snickers and butterfinger and i wondered why people are addicted to chocolate. Those were bad chocolates if you asked me. Then one day, i tasted Lindor Chocolates and i just cant stop eating them. Here are some categories for you...
Lindor Milk
The red ball (wrapped in red) is an absolute classic and the favourite choice of most people including me. Finest milk chocolate with an endlessly smooth and creamy filling.
Lindor Noir
This has 60% cocoa – a dark version of Lindor (wrapped in black) which perfectly combines the delicate, smooth melting filling with the fascinating world of dark, bitter chocolate.
Lindor Blanc
The white Lindor ball (wrapped in yellow) is a firm favourite among white chocolate fans. White chocolate with an endlessly soft, creamy white filling.
Lindor Noël
This is an exquisite Christmas recipe with a hint of cinnamon and coriander (wrapped in a cinnamon color).
Lindor Straciatella
This famous and well-loved Italian recipe is available for a short time in a limited edition.
Costco has a similar chocolate under Kirkland Signature brand.

Mayabazar - Asal Asal Aai
Its very rare to listen to a song and feel "the man who married this singer must be very lucky"
I listened to one such song from "Mayabazar" called "Asal Asal aai" from "Mayabazar"....Singer is sujatha...Music has some trace from Rehman's Baba title music and few other songs...
